Step into the Haberland studio and you'll feel like an elf in Santa's workshop! Haberland's ornaments are handcrafted with love. It all began with the re-unification of Germany in 1989. Many residents of Lauscha found themselves out of work when the state-owned factory was closed down. Michael and his mother decided that it was time to resurrect the "old ways", and went looking for the family Christmas ornament molds used by Michael's grandfather. They found them nestled in the back of the barn. It wasn't long before the Haberland's were once again happily engaged in full-time production. These ornaments are created by blowing crystal tubing into a two part mold.They are then hand-silvered using a traditional, time consuming formula.
